Homebuilt Butcher's Block—with Plans!

I built my first butcher block 25 years ago and it's still going strong.I had some red oak in the shed and found a used maple kitchen counter top for nothing.I planed it and then cut it up for the top and the shelf.

I needed to build one for the ranch and went with a lower block with more space. I wanted an end block top but didn't have the time and space to properly build one so... I had the top made by John Boos in Indiana. It's an end block maple top that's 2.25" thick. It really fits me well and has become the focal point of my kitchen.

In place at the ranch. Many of the world's events are decided around this butcher's block!

The old and the new!

Enjoying it!

And here's a downloadable PDF of the plans.
